FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How does the device work? The device works by interpreting the data request and routing it to the proper destination. Replies are then sent back to the originating computer in a totally transparent manner. netMIND is a proprietary based hardware plus software solution that bypasses security flaws inherent in operating systems. Is it easy to use? Yes. netMIND is completely transparent. Once it is configured, it will perform its functions with no user intervention required. Software firewalls are cumbersome to install and configure and require frequent "tweaking" to assure acceptable performance. netMIND is so well conceived for reliability and ease of use that it carries an unprecedented LIFETIME WARRANTY! What security does netMIND offer? netMIND provides complete security at the protocol level for all the computers behind the device. Not only are the computers behind this sentry secure, but to the outside world they don't even exist as all contact with the outside world must travel through the netMIND. How does virusBLOCK™ work? The most effective way for a virus to infect a computer is to be a worm virus looking for open ports or to be an executable CODE virus embedded in an E-mail attachment. With virusBLOCK™ enabled, all messages containing embedded executable CODE attachments, which are not authorized by the recipient, are stripped from the E-mail prior to reaching the computer. Is netMIND a Proxy Server? No. netMIND is custom designed to handle TCP/IP packets without proxies or special software on the workstations. netMIND can act as a Proxy Server, but usually proxies are not used in standard applications and are not secure. Software solutions which are installed over the top of Windows are NOT SECURE as new security flaws inherent in Windows itself are constantly being revealed and exploited. Can netMIND be Upgraded? Yes! netMIND can grow with your bandwidth needs. You may be using a 56K modem currently, but know you will eventually take part in faster services when they become available in your area.
